Untold Hardship Of Motorists At Fagba/Iju Railway Crossing

As much as I’m one of the advocates of the philosophy that there cannot be any meaning development without price because there can hardly be any gain without pain; yet some pains are needless and pointless.

Example of such pain is the one currently faced by Motorists plying the Jonathan Coker road to connect Abule Egba and Lagos Abeokuta Expressway.

Daily, Motorists are stuck at the rail track because of sordid job. Ideally and based on information I have, there supposed to be a flyover at that segment of the road (except the flyover is to be constructed by the State Government), but alas, nothing of such.

Perhaps, this would not have given anyone a concern if the lay of the rail track has been done well such that vehicles can move freely without any form of encumbrance. Unfortunately, this is not the case, everyday, vehicles are stuck there thereby causing traffic gridlock on the axis. The other day, when Governor Babajide Sanwoolu came to Ojokoro to commission 31 roads, the rail workers were seen doing frantic effort to do palliative work. Since the Governor left, Motorists have returned back to their plights.

It’s not surprising, this is the same way they blocked an inter-state road at the Agbado Crossing intersection.

The questions on my mind are: must our development be suffering driven? Can’t our development be human friendly? Why is it difficult for us to pursue sustainable development? Why is it difficult for us to envision the future in our planning and development strive?

This laying of rail track at Fagba if left unchecked is just another time bomb and disaster waiting as sooner or later, the realities of the sordid job done will soon become clear to all and sundry.

God bless Ifako ijaiye!
God bless Lagos State!!
God bless Nigeria!!!
