…Members pledge unalloyed support to the struggle for greater development in Lagos State

…as Councillor Adewumi Ogunshina representing Ward K in Amuwo Odofin LG extends goodwill to members.

Following a break of a few months, members of The Consolidation Group (TCG)assembled at the secretariat for their general meeting.

The Chairman of the group Apostle Kehinde welcomed members to the Monday meeting and appreciated them for their steadfastness and for coming out in large numbers to attend the meeting. He declared the meeting open with prayers and a minute silence for the souls of the departed aged members who died during the break.

The founder of the group Comrade Ayodele Adewale also added his thanks and appreciation to members for their loyalty and commitment to the All Progressive Congress (APC) Party, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu and its political caucus TCG. He informed them that the break was necessary to allow them all rest and recoup after the extremely strenuous political activities they had all undergone during the course of the last general election.

He reminded them that one of the fundamental objectives for setting up the group was to improve the economic standing of its members and the community at large using various platforms. Politically, by voting into power the APC with an agenda that would put in place policies and structures to promote social equality and improve the quality of life of its citizens. By voting in the APC party and Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu as Governor they would all reap the benefits of good governance and economic prosperity.

Already the Governor and his team have started advertising empowerment schemes targeted at various classes of Lagosians to key into.

In line with this the leaders of The Consolidation Group (TCG) have been working on a number of strategies to ensure members and their families are best positioned to key into the initiatives. Comrade Ayodele mentioned some specific initiatives targeted at specific demographics that the TCG have already started working on

  1. Empowerment programme for widows. Comrade Ayodele briefed members on the meeting he had penultimate week with some widows in TCG. He informed them of specific empowerment opportunities made available by the Lagos State Government targeted at widows and women who are residents of Lagos State and work a trade.
  2. The financial assistance empowerment scheme which 7 members from the group are already benefitting from.
  3. The teachers recruitment process. This is an on-going exercise. Due to the competitive nature of the scheme and limited vacant positions it was decided that a committee should be set up to profile all interested candidates so that the best qualified members within the group apply to ensure success.

The in- house screening exercise would be led by Prince Dosunmu with Councillor Adewumi Ogunshina, Ibrahim Balogun, Olulade Bethel and Olasunkanmi Abraham as members. Candidates who successfully passed the tests and interview will be accorded the full weight of Comrade Ayodele’s support after due ratification from Mrs Kehinde Oginni, a retired Director/school principal and the former education consultant to Amuwo Odofin LGA under comrade Adewale’s administration.

Comrade Ayodele went on to state that his vision is for all TCG members to have access to opportunities that would improve their socio-economic circumstance.

He advised members to work together as a unit and formally register a cooperative with the Corporate Affairs Commission. This will avail them to wider opportunities from the State Government, Federal govt and international bodies and enable members take part in empowerment programs, trainings and financial assistance schemes.

A database would be open for interested TCG members and others within Amuwo Odofin local government.

He urged members to prepare for many more opportunities that would be made available to Lagosians by the Lagos State Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo Olu in the coming year and professed his confidence that the TCG would not be left out in benefitting massively.

“As the year winds up, I pray for God’s mercy and abundant blessing upon us all as we hope to meet again in such a large turnout soon”, Comrade Ayodele said.

Responding to several comments by members, Comrade Ayodele stated that no single member would be side-lined from any opportunity.

The meeting ended with closing remarks from Apostle Kehinde who announced that the sum of 50 thousand Naira has been donated to the TCG from Councillor Adewumi Ogunshina representing Ward K in Amuwo Odofin LG as a mark of his goodwill to the Caucus. Prayers and thanks were said for Councillor Adewunmi Ogunshina for his kind gesture.
