Olakitan Estate: Call Awogboro family to order, Save Lagos Group tells Lagos Government

….Promises to write  the State Governor, Sanwo-Olu

A civil rights organization, the Save Lagos Group(SLG) has called on
the Lagos State Government under the leadership of Mr. Babajide
Sanwo-Olu, to call Awogboro family to order over their illegal claimed
of ownership of Olakitan Village, popularly known as Olakitan Estate
Community Development Association in Agbado Oke-Odo LCDA, Alimosho
Local Government area of the State.

The controversy has been surrounding the land of the village with
27.324 Hectares of land (i.e. 273,240 Square metres) which the State
Government had been settled since 2015 by issuing a Certificate of
Occupancy (C of O) to the rightful owner of the Land, the Olakitan
family dated 24th Day of April,2015.

Investigation has it that Olakitan family had occupied the land from
the time immemorial as contained in the Plan No. LAT1431/L/77 and
disclosed that Olakitan’s family bounded by the Bamigbose family to
the North, Ogunseye’s family to the East, Odo-Orojas to the West and
Amosu Akin’s family to the South.

It was added that Ogunseye’s family was secretly and illegally selling
the land to one Prince Alfred Awogboro in 1977 without the knowledge
of the Olakitan’s family which the Lagos State government has settled
through the Certificate of Occupancy No- 87/87/2015j, more
particularly delineated in the Plan No.LS/D/LKJ.3693.

On the issue of possession of the land claimed by the Awogboro’s
family before the Court dated 27th March,2015, through a Writ of
possession and the court had struck out the request by viewing it as
incompetent application.

According to the Lagos State Government, this Certificate of Occupancy
is issued subject to the approved layout Plan No.MPP/DM/14/LP/1110 in
the Ministry of Physical Planning and Urban Development.

Commenting on the development through a signed statement by the
Convener, Save Lagos Group(SLG), Comrade Adeniyi Alimi Sulaiman and
copies were made available to newsmen on Monday.

Comrade Sulaiman, urged Governor Sanwo-Olu to caution the family of
Awogboro stop breaching the peace of the area, just as the Government
had laid the issue of owner of the Olakitan village to rest through
the registration Number 87At Page 87 in Volume 2015J of the Lagos
State of Nigeria Land Registry Office, Ikeja.

The rights activist therefore maintained that the group would soon
write Governor Sanwo-Olu on behalf of the people of the community by
detailing the whole history surrounding the village and the reason why
Awogboro family were working round the clock to take over the estate
after their co-travelers, Ogunseye family sold their land to Nigeria
Army in the 70s.
