Mega Praise Night: Convener Tasks Religious Faithful On Prayers

By Robert Awokuse

It was a colourful event night of praise, thanksgiving and worship in Lagos recently as members of Psalm 150 hosted worshippers across different denominations and religion.

The programme, with the theme Banquet of Praise, was to show appreciation to God for His protection and guidance since the beginning of the year till date.

With several gospel artistes such as Beejay Sax, Yinka Hallelujah, Ariyo Aiyemo amongst others, who were in attendance to perform, the venue was electrifying as participants danced and echoed the music being sung.

Also in attendance were representatives of the Nollywood (Yoruba group).

Speaking to Momentous News shortly after the programme, the Convener, Mrs Folusho Ogunjimi, popularly known as Sokoyokoto, said the programme which was conceived some three years ago, has been source of blessings to many.

She said the praise initiative became important as an avenue to acknowledge God’s unfailing mercy, love, protection and provisions towards her, her loved ones and everyone.

“When the Lord is blessing you and protecting you, what He needs is thanks and praises to appreciate His goodness and mercy,” Ogunjimi said.

“But I realised that I can’t do it alone even if I have a thousand tongue it will still not be enough t o praise Him. So that’s why I invited people to join me to appreciate our God for all He has done for ours as a people from the beginning of the year till date. And so we chose a particular date in the year which we are observing now.”

While noting that the programme has gained more recognitions over the years as members of Psalm 150 have increased, Mrs Ogunjimi further called on interested individuals to join the team.

Speaking on the spate of insecurity confronting the country, Ogunjimi attributed the development to end time, calling on Christians to be more prayerful.

“This increase of wars, terrorism, crises, killings, kidnapping, immorality, homosexuality, drug abuse, rape, indicate signs of the last days so we need to pray that the elect will be saved.

“And as the year is running to an end I want Nigerians to show love and compassion to one another; enough of these killings. We should stop killing one another, we should stop doing evil things to our neighbours so that we shall all be at peace. And I pray that the country will be peaceful and free from disasters,” she admonished.

In her remark, a Muslim faith believer, Alhaja Adebimpe Eshinlokun applauded the the organiser, while describing the programme as commendable.

“The programme is lovely because it’s all about thanking God for His care throughout the year. As Christians and Muslims we all need to thank God for all He’s done for us. And for the organiser, Mrs Ogunjimi aka Shokoyokoto, she is a very good woman who’s loving and accommodating; she doesn’t discriminate. She trained me in my vocation MC Alaga.”

Mrs Ogunjimi is famous for her career as a high ranking traditional wedding anchor (Alaga Iduro/Ijoko) ) and for her Cook Show (Olobe lo loko…Sokoyokoto) programme on television.
