The Federal Road Safety Corps (FRSC) Lagos Sector Command concluded its Operation Zero tolerance end of the year special patrol which kicked off from December 15, 2020 and ended on Friday 15 January, 2021.
The Sector Commander FRSC Lagos, Olusegun Ogungbemide, in a statement by the Command’s Public Education Officer, Olabisi Sonusi on Thursday 21 January, 2021 says the Special patrol which covered Lagos- Ibadan, Lekki – Epe and Lagos – Badagry expressways recorded a huge success although some offences were still prevailing and such is not encouraged as long as the Corps is working hard to reduce the rate of Road Traffic Crashes (RTC) and also reduce fatalities on the highway.
The patrol according to the Sector Commander led to the arrest of a total of 3187 offenders with 3708 offences, 1430 vehicles were impounded and 1757 confiscations. In the cause of the patrol a total 46 Road traffic crashes was recorded with 5 of it been fatal.
The prevailing offences during the patrol includes: 505 Tyre violation, 609 Seat belt violation, 513 failure to install Speed limit Device and 608 Light sign violation.
The Sector Commander commended the officers and men of Lagos Sector Command for their steadfastness and commitment during the end of the year patrol. He therefore encouraged the men to be more dedicated to their service in this New Year to ensure that the Corps 2021 Corporate strategic goal is achieved. He further stated that the Command is set to reduce traffic offenders to keep the highways safe for the innocent motoring public.
He also advised commercial fleet operators to Install Speed Limiting Device in their vehicles.6kl
