COMRADE AYODELE ADEWALE HOSTS FIRST BATCH OF THE CONSOLIDATION GROUP (TCG) WIDOWS

…exchanges information and support on Lagos State opportunities currently ongoing to them

…promises to include other members as time and further opportunities open up.

The first batch of widows who are members of the consolidation group (TCG) in Amuwo Odofin LGA Lagos State were hosted by the immediate past council chairman of the Amuwo Odofin local government Comrade Ayodele Adewale on Wednesday 20th at the caucus secretariat in Featac Town.

After a minute silence was observed for the soul of a departed who was related to one of the widows present, Comrade Ayodele went on to thank and appreciate the widows for their steadfastness over the years of political struggle and unflinching loyalty despite all odds thrown at them.

He stated that the meeting has been specifically organised to intimate them on empowerment opportunities opening up within Lagos State by the Governor Mr Babajide Sanwo-Olu for women by extension widows who are resident in the state and as valued members of TGC it was his duty to ensure that they are well positioned to key into the opportunities.

Comrade Ayodele stated that they needed to come together as cooperative to reap the full benefits of the available opportunities. He listed out the stratgies the Leaders of TCG will be working on in conjunction with the widows.

  1. A database of women and widows in TCG would be created with their full names and contact address as well as detailed information on their individual business (trade).
  2. The informal grouping will also be formalised and given a professional status via registration as a Cooperative with the Corporate Affairs Commission. This formal structure would give them wider access to engage in projects and programs organised by State, Federal and international bodies – trainings, empowerments programs, access to soft loans and grants when needed.

Comrade Ayodele said that the cooperative will be inclusive of all the women in TCG and also the vulnerable women in the local government. He encouraged them to consult internally and nominate executive members amongst them selves who would pilot the affairs of the cooperative.

He also announced that those who had children or grand children that applied for the Lagos State Teachers recruitment exercise should submit the information to the caucus secretariat which would follow up on the status of the applications.

He said families of members who had died will not be forgotten and will be considered first when any opportunity arises.

He also submitted that some TCG members were given the opportunity to fill a financial assistant empowerment scheme form recently setup by the Lagos State Government and it is hoped that they would be given the requested funds to boost their businesses when the monies are released.

The meeting ended with a closing prayer for God’s grace, guidance and blessings over the proposed activities.
