The third edition of the most popular Nigerian Diaspora Cultural event “Adire Carnival” would be hosted once again in the historic city of Vienna on the 30th of June 2018.
The event is to showcase the rich cultural heritage of our great country Nigeria and to promote Nigeria tourism potentials. It would also help to forester the friendly relationship between Nigeria and our host country Austria.
The highlight of the three days event would be the Nigerian Carnival tagged “Carnival of Peace and Unity” to reflect the current mood of our Nation.
The Carnival uniform for this year’s event would also be our usual “Adire outfit” to promote the handmade Adire fabric from western part of Nigeria which would be visible throughout the event.
The event which was founded by Egbe omo Oduduwa Austria (The Yoruba Community in Austria) five year ago would be jointly organised by Egbe omo Oduduwa Austria, World Museum Vienna, Nigerian Embassy in Austria, Nigerians in Diaspora Organisation Europe (NIDOE)-Austrian Chapter, Nigerian communities in Austria and host of other organizations.
The Nigerian Ambassador to Austria Her Excellency Ambassador Vivian Okeke endorsed the event on behalf of the Federal Government of Nigeria , she then advise all Nigerians to be of good behaviour at all times and to respect the law of their host country Austria.
The President of Egbe Omo Oduduwa Vienna, Austria Aare Olanrewaju Fagbodun in his own remark promised that this year’s event would be a remarkable one as all hands are on deck to perfect the mega event. He also promised an all-inclusive event this year as discussion is ongoing with other Nigerian ethic groups. He concluded by saying that the drum exhibition is even an all African event.
To the event itself, we are informed that the carnival train would start from the Nigerian Embassy in the 3rd district of Vienna with funfair passing through the ring street in the heart of the city which is the busiest road in the city and terminate at the Heldenplatz (Heroes Square) opposite the Hofburg which happens to be the office of the Austrian President. The participant would now move indoors into the newly renovated World Museum Vienna (Weltmuseum Wien) where they would be entertained to cultural shows and live music and dances. The Royal father of the day would be the Olowu of Owu , Oba Dosumu (Amororo II)
Special invites who have so far confirmed their participation include the Ogun State government, Lagos State government and parliamentarians from both states
