44 Year-Old Politician Rapes 86 Year-old Blind Woman In Adamawa

In Girei town, the unmarried suspect was handed over to the police.

An 86-year-old blind woman who lives in Laide-Bajabure in the local government area of Girei is alleged to have been raped by a 44-year-old male, Abdulrahman Muhammad Bajabure, a former aspirant to the Council.

On Monday, Abdulrahman was said to have committed the act at the victim’s home.

The victim is said to have raised an alarm after the perpetrator had raped the woman and was about to run, drawing neighbours who trapped the perpetrator in the room.

In Girei town, the unmarried suspect was handed over to the police.

In reaction to the incident, Mrs Sarah Justine, President, Women Wing of Laka Cultural Association, Adamawa State, voiced concern about the growing cases of rape and called on the authorities to prosecute offenders harshly to act as a deterrent to others.

In a related trend, two cousins allegedly gang-raped a 14-year-old girl in Mayo-Belwa town.

The suspects, Faruk Dahiru, a primary school teacher with the Mayo-Belwa Local Education Authority, y, and Muktar Shuaibu, a Mayo-Belwa local government council workers resident in Anguwan Nyako, Mayo-Belwa, both of whom are married, were said to have lured and seriously assaulted the innocent girl to an outskirt of the area.

Investigations indicate that the suspects were arrested and handed over for trial to the police in Mayo-Belwa, but their parents interfered and scuttled the investigation.

As in this article at the time of filing, the perpetrators went into hiding as the girl’s family threatened to take up the matter further.

Contacted, Deputy Police Superintendent DSP Suleiman Yahaya Nguroje, spokesman for the Adamawa State Police Headquarters, was not yet briefed on the cases but vowed to investigate them.
